WelcomeThe Ontario Association of Private Adoption Practitioners is an association of private adoption practitioners, CFSA licensees and Intercountry Adoption Agencies who meet the criteria for, and are approved by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services in Ontario. Those who have been approved to conduct home studies and supervise adoption probation placements, Intercountry Adoption Agencies or those who are licensed to place children for private adoption under the CFSA or the IAA are invited to join O.A.P.A.P. The purpose of O.A.P.A.P. is to share information about all aspects of adoption and provide minutes of meetings; to provide continuing education - resources, training, workshops, conferences, research/trends; to offer a forum for interaction with Ministry staff who attend part of the meetings; to be updated on policies, procedures, international news and perspectives; to identify issues in clinical practice and discuss case scenarios; to develop a code of ethics; to establish and maintain links with Private Adoption Practitioners across Ontario. Meetings are held in September, November, April and June in Toronto, usually at the Ontario Government buildings, 900 Bay Street, Toronto through the sponsorship by the MCYS Adoption Unit. For those who are unable to attend meetings due to distance, full time work commitments or cost, there is value in belonging to a professional association which is interdisciplinary, information focussed and which supports collegial support. You will receive minutes to keep you informed of the information items and educational opportunities. Our web site is being developed to enhance communication and accessibility. Fees: $100.00 annually renewable January 1st, each year. (make cheques payable to Tina McCann)
